We love to treat our customers by holding VAT free events over the course of the year. For more information on how VAT free discounts are calculated, delivery options and any terms and conditions that may affect your order, please read below.
How VAT free* works
To comply with the law we must still charge and show VAT. VAT is still applied to the order at the current rate but the discount is equivalent to not paying VAT.
For example, if you order an item costing £100.00 excl. VAT, the total you would normally pay is £120.00 including VAT. When we run a VAT free promotion, we discount the price of the item to £83.33. Then, when we add VAT the total you pay is £100.00, which would be the original price excl. VAT.
Step by step for shopping online:
- Sign in if you are an existing Ellisons customer or register if you are a new customer
- Add your chosen items to your basket
- Once your order is complete, click the basket icon to review your items and checkout securely
- The VAT free discount will be automatically deducted from your subtotal, and the discount applied to the total will match VAT. If you have a VAT free* voucher code, enter your code in the offer code box and click Apply
- Complete your order through PayPal or Ellisons Secure Checkout

In some cases, the discount and VAT amount do not match. A likely reason for this will be that your basket contains items exempt from the VAT free* promotion, for example: REM or student kits.
Delivery over the VAT free* event
We aim to despatch all orders for next day delivery during VAT free promotions, but this cannot be guaranteed. Please allow up to five working days for deliveries placed over VAT free promotional events due to the larger volume of orders we receive.
To qualify for free delivery over VAT free* events, your order subtotal must be over £60.00.
The VAT free* discount is deducted from your order subtotal before the VAT is applied, so if your order subtotal is £50.00, it will be taken down to £41.67 which then disqualifies you from free delivery. To ensure you receive free delivery over the VAT free* event, your order subtotal must be over £60.00.
Please note, the 'Estimated delivery cost' in your basket may be inaccurately listed if your order subtotal is under £60.00 during the VAT free* event. Proceed to secure checkout to confirm your order and delivery charge.
VAT free* event terms and conditions
*VAT free promotions cannot be used in conjunction with any other promotion. It excludes existing discounted products, multi-buy deals, customers with special terms, REM, student kits and Academy courses. We reserve the right to exclude any brand from promotion without prior notice.
VAT is still applied to the order at the current rate but the discount applied is equivalent to not paying VAT. If you are a VAT registered salon you can still reclaim your VAT.

Christmas delivery and opening hours
Ensure you place your order online by 6.00pm on Tuesday 22 December 2020 for pre-Christmas delivery. All orders placed after 3.00pm on Wednesday 23 December 2020 will be despatched on Monday 4 January 2021.
Please note according to the dates listed above orders will despatch for same day, however next day delivery cannot be guaranteed due to the demands our delivery partner are experiencing during this time.
