Winter nail trends: Ellisons style tips

Looking for some inspiration? You’re in the right place. Ellisons have got top nail artist Jen McColl to create three looks that will be in-demand this Autumn/Winter season. The best part is that all the products she used are available on our website, so you will be able to replicate them in your own salon.

Abstract dots

This eye-catching style is sure to bring a splash of colour to your clients’ nails this Autumn, with subtle pastel colours being offset by a contrasting dot. The use of negative space has been a popular trend all year, and this style continues that whilst adding a bit extra.

Create the look

Technique (using OPI® lacquer range):

  1. Prep the nails with OPI’s natural nail base coat.
  2. Next create shapes using OPI Alpine Snow.
  3. Using a dotting tool, add dots using OPI Don’t Bossa Nova Me Around.
  4. Complete with OPI Rapidry top coat and cuticle oil.

Porcelain delftPorcelain delft nail design

Stand out from the crowd with a customised hand drawn delft motive this Winter. The icy cool contrast of white and blue is supported by your choice of design on each nail, allowing plenty of opportunity for personalisation for every client.

Create the look

Technique (using OPI® lacquer range):

  1. Prep nails with the OPI natural base coat.
  2. Add two coates of OPI Alpine Snow.
  3. Using a fine brush (Lecenté D2) create shapes using OPI Mali-blue Shore.
  4. Add fine detail lines using Duomo Days, Isola Nights.
  5. Finish off with a glossy top coat of the Rapidry top coat.
  6. Don’t forget to use cuticle oil.

Tortoise shellTortoise shell nail design

This incredibly versatile style allows you to go with the classic tortoise shell colour scheme, or to mix it up with different colour combinations. You can be as subtle or as bold as your client wants, whilst also creating a stunning design that is sure to draw attention.

Create the look

Technique (using OPI® lacquer range):

  1. Prep nails with OPI’s natural base coat and two coats of Have Your Panettone and Eat It Too.
  2. Mix together Cliffside Karaoke and Have Your Panettone and Eat It Too, add blobs of colour on the nail.
  3. Mix in Cliffside Karaoke to the colour mixed colour to give a darker tone, add blobs of this colour to the nail.
  4. Finally add a hint of yellow highlight in Marigolden Hour.
  5. Once you’re done add a top coat of OPI Rapidry top coat and cuticle oil.
